Ever see those wooden figures in the art isles, designed to help draw people in natural poses? My daughter used to have one before she even knew what it was, but with all our moving, it wad lost. I thought about buying another, now that she’s so into her drawing… But then realized they are just too boring for our life. Saw the idea online somewhere to make your own using rubber covered garden wire (so you use less but still have a nice thick frame) and cloth. I tried wrapping the body with cloth, but it lacked something. excitment??
So thanks to the world of artistic duct tape, here is the lady I think will fit perfectly into our lifestyle.
She definitely deserves a funky name, but I will leave that up to my girl. Tellin ya now, I’m sure it will be crazy like this lady’s leopard skin. But.. I Gotta run as I have a few more gifts to finish for our handmade Christmas.. yes, yes I do like working under the pressure of extreme last minute. A few I will share, bit the rest have to be after the holiday, as I don’t want too many clues floating around the webisphere …
Being in a doodley mood seems to be contagious. Not only did I hear stories this weekend of two new little friends who doodled their hearts out thanks to my works, but my very own kid wanted to get into the latest project.
After seeing my own Christmas tags, my dear friend joked if I could make her some. Of course I did, and tonight in the workshop we are colouring …
Bailey’s Local Foods has invited a number of beautiful + creative Artisans to join them in a not completely last minute Christmas show on Monday December 17th from 3:30- 7pm, at 16 William Street West Waterloo, ON
I’ve been sewing up a storm these last few months and have TONS of stock not yet posted online… This means I have a size for everyone! so definitely mark this on the calendar as a “MUST DO” event.
Please also share the Facebook event, and we will see you there!
I love to shop, its painfully true. I am energized by the long tedious searching and hunting … looking at every store, comparing prices til you know your intended will be overjoyed at the perfect gift … but even more, I love to wrap them.
This year, since purchasing that doodle book, I was inspired to doodle something in my everyday life. Short of taking a million years doodling the paper itself, I kept it easy and made my own tags. Since its just the three of us – mama, daddy, kid – it was easy to make simple tags using the first letter of our names. At first I painted them ..
But tonight I figured why not doodle more?!
… And yes, now they are all wrapped… And now I don’t have anything left to do. Perhaps its time to put up the tree???
like i said, im right back into the swing of things, and U ROCK will be at a show every weekend from here on til December 13th. the next one is the Make a Difference Market, at conrad grebel university college. This year we will be setup in the great hall to accommodate even more artists than previous years… how exciting.
the show is designed to raise money fot the Mennonite Coalition for Refugee Support, helping refugee claimants in our community. their vendors include those selling goods by artisans in the third world and local talents.
Based on previous years the shoppers love the fun and funny… so i am in the process of finishing up more of my doodle bags
so be sure to swing by early — before all the kids wake up and snag all the fun gear. (show from 10am – 4pm)
