doctor prescription: have 100 people say they love you

just today i realized “holly smackers – i DO rock”.  i have been giddy and excited about sharing UROCK … i am shy no more. which is a great feeling but this sudden change only lead me to question why. i tried to convince myself that i was good enough and people liked what i made, since i started the line. sales were good, stores were selling my things, customers were saying great things…. but still i felt i was lacking. like i hadn’t quite made it and i wasnt good enough. i was too shy to admit i was the artist, and too nervous to seek out new stores to carry the line.

now suddenly after a slow few shows i feel the complete opposite, and i am confident and proud to admit “i made this stuff”!

and now your wondering why too eh? its all of you — my fans. a few moths ago i noticed there was a huge increase in the number of readers to my blog, and viewers of my fanpage. i hate to admit it but i am that girl that needs to be told everyday that you love her. actions do not speak louder than words for me…. especially those words that boost my ego.i need to hear them, and see their love on my fanpage.

what better way to show my appreciation, than to offer a custom made peice of what they love!!

when i realized my fans cured my lack of confidence, i had 119 fans. thrilling, but then i wanted to reach higher. if 119 people can motivate me to blog more, sew more and break out of the “i dont think i want to be famous” box… then i wonder what 200 fans could make me do.

help me reach 200 fans in facebook, and i will randomly select a winner or one custom made UROCK item.

it was going to be just from the current fans, but that puts a lot of pressure on them… and my whole goal is not to let anyone tell you who to be, or more specifically what to like. UROCK wants you to not follow the crowd. better yet, i want you to like the line because it thrills you, not because someone told you to. so i have opened up the contest to all the fans, new or old.

i will think of something for all those 119 fans who helped me get here (i already took note of who you are) because it means so much to me that you helped me get this far

… something

… something great!

back to the conscious life

it was my birthday this past Saturday (yah me) … but 4am that morning the princess woke us with tiny little gagging sounds, and faint crying. she had the flu. this was only her second time ever being stomach sick, which she thought made her a pro… “i know mommy, only a few more times and it will all be gone. i know how to do it” … poor angel. if only she really knew.

as she gradually returned to the rambunctious child she is, we thought all was well. Not even considering the fact that we might have caught her illness, we got all dressed up and headed to this GORGEOUS bar in toronto called This Is London. Not only did they keep all the original hardwood and beams from what must have been an old factory, but the bathrooms were stunning too. it was like a princess palace in there… all pink and victorian styled.. individual rooms for the toilets, hair salon, makeup studio… and get this… a personal DJ!

well thank god it was gorgeous, because i spent a lot of time in there (not a personal decision). i was sick too. such a shame because i think we were only there for about an hour. and holy moly was i sick.

everyone — including myself, thought it was the alcohol and just brushed me off as “cant hold her liquor”. the next few days — as i continued to be sick all hours of the day — i knew it was that blasted flu that the princess picked up somewhere… or was it me who carried it to her? how long can a person carry a virus without knowing? does an adult carry it longer? to anyone who was with me… or is concerned about their own health… its a sneaker. you dont even feel sick — no warning signs. it just BAM! your tossing your cookies.

Now, thankfully, im feeling better… but since i stumbled in an sleepy-nauseous state through the first few days of this month…

the FREE TEE winner for May was not selected 😦

on May 8th i will be at the Church of the Good Shepherd’s Spring Market, on Margaret (near Center In The Square, KW) from 9am to 1pm.

If you don’t have any UROCK gear, this would be a perfect day to come out and get some. So to allow more people to enter the contest i will be adjusting things slightly (just for this month)

the May contest will be postponed,

but the June contest will have TWO WINNERS!!

oh the excitement! oh the joy! oh the FUN!

here’s how to enter:

in Flickr — click Flickr Fan Group on sidebar. Login to flickr (or create an account. its free, easy, and awesome to post and share your photos). Go back to the UROCK fan group. in facebook — click Facebook fan group on sidebar. become a fan of the group (click ‘LIKE’). Scroll down to PHOTOS, where there is a heading for fan photos. click add photos. you can either upload directly from your computer, or choose from one of your facebook albums

Almost that time again…

It’s almost the end of the month… meaning it’s almost the beginning of be month. Yep. That’s some seriously intelligent information.

Even better, once you absorb all those facts… if you join the UROCK group in either Facebook or Flickr (see big links on sidebar), upload a pic of someone in UROCK gear… you could win a FREE TEE!

Only a few days left…
On May 1st one fan picture will randomly be chosen. Even if you already sent one, your welcome to send more… send one for every shirt you own!

a great day at Bloomin Earth

Thank you to everyone who ventured down to the Bloomin Earth Festival, and visit the UROCK booth, at the Kitchener Market. It was a wonderful looking show, great atmosphere, great energy… and smiles on everyone’s face. Even though the wind was wickedly strong, it really was a fun day.

I enjoy shows like this just to get the chance to meet my shoppers face to face, but for this event i was the organizer — and was running all over the place all day. Thankgoodness my mom was there to both keep me sane, and greet all my shoppers. She even created an organized ‘log’ of my sales for the day. Guess you never really stop learning things from your parents.

Still thriving off the high of the day, i am looking into adding more shows to my schedule… ones that im not personally planning. It’s a great feeling to run a successful show, but its also nice to stay at my booth all day and actually talk to all people.

JUST A REMINDER… for those of you who did buy something new from UROCK…

join the group in either facebook or flickr and upload a photo of your rock’n gear for your chance to win a free tee.

(winner chosen on the first of every month)
