Every now and then a girl needs to feel fancy, even if you are wearing your favorite worn in denim mini. The holiday trend of sequined everything has me hooked, but rather than just simple sparkle I needed to do it in urock style – a pretty mess
First I added a few more distressed areas by scraping with my scissors and rubbing with fine sandpaper. You could also toss into the wash, let the machine do the work, but I wanted to see the result right away.
Then I added beads + buttons from one of our many collection jars.
And a bit of embroidery for doodley fun.
The skirts are so easy to make (bow that I made myself about a hundred) but I never posted any for sale because I felt they were missing something. Now, I feel good … And more of these beaded skirts will be available in my etsy shop next month.
*if you really want one faster, please feel free to ask. I have almost every size already made. Majority of the delay is thanks to the time it takes to photograph and upload. Will cost $30 each
My body is feeling a little less than perfect but my brain… oooh-weee my brain loves this get-better juice. The creative part of my brain that is, where flowers grow on the ocean waves, and ponies run across rainbow skies. Me feeling siiiiiilly today.
That being said, I needed to craft something. I had been ransacking the world wide web for just a touch of inspiration in creating something funky, new and totally “urock” for my collection … but came up with very little. Then, as I tossed my recently acquired ripped kids pants onto the pile of Lycra scraps from my visit to the Tall Pines Private School in Brampton, it came to me. I’m so excited, but I don’t want to give it all away just yet. But these creations are just for girls… I’m still thinking of what recycled wonders I can do for boys…
I also have some new thought on more sofisticated adult tees, and a more grownup phrase too. What do you think of “I think I’m …. smart, pretty, awesome, brilliant, genius, hilarious” with each tee ending in a different positive trait? For the ladies, I have slim Jersey skirts and baggy tees… More scarves for both fashion + warmth…
I am open to suggestion as usual, so if you have a thought feel free to share.
Oh 2013, will you be the year rock takes over the world??
Neocitran and doodling is where my plans lie tonight … And even that is becoming a stretch. My brain does not want to operate today and my body parts are screing in pain at random intervals… ooh my back. Oh my thigh. Ugh my side. Oh my ankle… It’s like a strange sick dance that I’m glad nobody gets to see. Come on neocitran – do your magic!
Today I sew.. but I also decided I should actually do something will all this new free time I’ve been given and put some elbow grease on this business I run. Takes a lot to keep up with an online business… Complete project, take photo, edit photo, upload photo to etsy, write fun listing, update Twitter + facebook with new item, post on blog about recent listings … And then start on next project.
That being said, I don’t feel productive unless I complete all of these things right away and to do that I feel I must multitask. No. Wait. Not just feel the need… I feel I’m not productive UNLESS I’m multitasking!
On top of this, I also have this insane ich to help everyone else. The man says its a curse (to him) but I actually enjoy it. I like seeing others grow and learn and become famous! Not saying their fame is ever because of me at all, but I like to share everything I know to get their ball rolling. Teach a man to fish, and he will be fed for life right?!
So today, while sewing new monsters for this weekend’s Frederick Art Walk, I am also helping my friend beautify her facebook fan page (two needles + a ball of yarn). Later we will photograph all her creations to share with the world, so right now it really is a work in progress.
And … That’s my day.
Now back to the sewing
Yeah they kinda look like the old monsters on the cards I have, but i have much bigger plans for these special guys. Little do they know … But they will be cut out and secured to random bits of wood — turning them into lovely fridge or locker magnets!! YEAH that’s an awesome idea (a little self horn-tooting) Come see the first few samples this Sunday along the iron horse trail (near city cafe on Victoria + strange st, kitchener) from 1pm to 5pm
